Both Google and MSN offer a very convenient feature: you can exclude your own site using:
link:sidebusiness.biz -site:sidebusiness.biz
In most cases, using link:sidebusiness.biz is not going to find all the links and just using your url:
sidebusiness.biz
will yield more links.
So combining both methods, you can use:
sidebusiness.biz -site:sidebusiness.biz
Technorati is becoming a force to be reckoned with. So you may also want to check backlinks there as well. To find backlinks to your site, use:
http://technorati.com/search/sidebusiness.biz
You can also use the methods outlined above to find out who links to your competion, and try to get some links from the same sites.
